Loan Periods, Renewals, Requests

Loan Periods & Extended Use Fees:

Each individual library has its own rules on lending and extended use fees. The information provided below applies to Scott Township Public Library. This information is subject to change without notice.

3 Week Loan:

    • Books
    • Audiobooks
    • e-Materials
    • Juvenile DVDs
    • DVDs over 6 hours

1 Week Loan:

      • Games
      • Magazines
      • Music CDs
      • Puzzles
      • Adult DVDs

All items may be returned 24 hours/7 days a week via the drop box by the lobby doors along the outside library wall.

Items checked out at Scott Township Public Library may be returned to any library in Allegheny County.

Scott Township Public Library is FINE FREE.

What does this mean?

  • If you check out items from Scott Township Public Library, you will not accrue fines on overdue items.
  • If you return items to Scott Township Public Library, you will not accrue fines on overdue items.
  • Not all libraries are fine free. Items from other area libraries may still accrue overdue fines.
  • All previously accrued fines will be waived.
  • Refunds will not be provided for any previously paid fines.
  • You are still responsible for returning your items by the due date.
  • If items are not returned in a timely manner, they are considered lost, and you will be billed for the item(s). Once the item(s) are returned, the bill will clear from your account and you will not accrue any overdue fines. Accounts billed for more than $10 may result in a loss of some library privileges including borrowing and access to online resources.

Renewals and Requests:

Renewals:
Items will automatically renew up to 6 times unless another patron is waiting for the item. 

If you prefer to renew the item before the automatic renewal occurs, items can be renewed by:

    • Online using My Account
    • In the app under My Account 
    • Using the Automated Phone Renewal System by calling 412-622-1895
    • Calling Scott Township Public Library at 412-429-5380 during business hours.
    • Visiting the circulation desk.

Requests:
Items can be requested from any library in the Allegheny County system and sent to your library of choice for pick-up.
