Visit the circulation desk and present proof of current Allegheny County residence and photo identification and we will create a card for you that will be active immediately. Alternatively, you can fill out the self registration form for your temporary (30-day) library account and then visit the library for a card with full borrowing privileges. Individuals under the age of 18 need to visit the library with a parent or guardian to sign up for a card. Your card can be used at any library in Allegheny County. Learn more about getting a library card here.
Pin numbers can be reset online using the Forgot Your Pin function or by calling (412-429-5380) or visiting the library.
Logging into your online account requires both your library barcode number and a pin number. You would have set up your pin number when you got your library card. If you do not remember your pin, you can try to reset it. If you cannot reset it online or you do not remember setting a pin number, call or visit the library. If you are logging in for the first time you will be prompted to set up a username, which you will be able to use moving forward to login. Your username is for your convenience. You can always log in with your library card number.
Holds can be placed online through the library catalog. Use the Search By function in the top right corner to search for the item you wish to request and then place a hold on the item using the green Place A Hold button.
Holds can also be placed by calling (412-429-5380) or visiting the library.
You will be notified when the item is ready to be picked up by an automated phone call or email. Patrons can also opt into text notifications. Learn how to sign up for text notifications here.
